JANUARY 2008: HAUTE LIST - “BEAUTY BUFFET” BY RAAHKEE MIRCHANDANI AND DANICA LO. Revamped Beauty Floor a Model for Future Look. By Mathew W. Evans.
Here are the brand-new must-haves for all beauty junkies, launched exclusively at Henri Bendel yesterday:
- Giella’s custom-blend cosmetics introduces Organic Body Wash ($24), a natural liquid soap made with organic sunflower and coconut oils. Choose from essential oils such as basil, lavender and violet – and flavors such as apple, bubble-gum and chocolate – and the mixologist will create your personalized scent on the spot.
- Alcohol-free Meridian Bikini Rescue ($32) is perfect as a pre-wax treatment to prevent gross ungrown hairs.
- Alaska Glacial Mud Co.’s Glacial Facial Purifying Mineral Mud Masque ($34) is made in Alaska with mud from the mineral-rich Copper River Delta. Founder Lauren Padawer, an environmental activist, also enhances the products with certified organic ingredients such as kelp, yarrow, cranberry and elderflower from the Pacific Northwest.
- Laura Mercier’s Corner Lash ($20) is like fake lashes for dummies – the glue is black, so you can see where you’re applying it.
- Slather on Child’s new Extremely Rich Body Crème ($92) in the company’s cult fragrance; it’s perfect for blustery winter days.
- From the creators of the light-up Liperazzi comes BeautyRehab, a fave of the Spice Girls and Amy Winehouse (who, we’re guessing, just likes the name). The $12 pucker-softener comes in Rose Salve and Spearmint versions.
- British ayurvedic and homeopathic physician Nitasha Budeo brings her line of certified organic skin-and-body-care stateside for the first time. Try the Rasayana Rejuvenating Face Serum ($90) to firm skin and help soften fine lines and spots.
- Brazilian designer Isabela Capeto crosses the border with her whimsically packaged perfume that smells like black pepper, Brazilian waterlillies and Sandalwood, ($80.)
- French perfumerie Etat Libre d’Orange – the company that bottled “Secretions Magnifiques,” the scents of bodily secretions – launches Rossy de Palma ($85). Thankfully, this one is not offensive at all.
